Mr.Oreke
Born in 1986, Mr.Oreke is a French artist whose practice is rooted in a distinctive Street Pop Art aesthetic.
He discovered painting in the early 2000s through graffiti. Armed with spray cans, he first engaged with urban walls before gradually transferring that raw energy onto canvas. This dual culture — street and studio — continues to shape his visual language today.
His universe draws from the legacy of Pop Art and the imagery of American comics from the 1950s and 1960s. After an early period marked by abstraction, the human figure progressively became central to his work: male and female faces, often created using stencils, interact with dynamic spray-painted backgrounds. A clear influence of Roy Lichtenstein can be perceived in his admiration for bold graphic portraits and strong visual impact.
Mr.Oreke’s singularity lies in the tension between control and spontaneity. He layers ink, acrylic, collage, typography, drips, and occasionally unexpected elements such as fragments of banknotes. His backgrounds vibrate with urban energy, while his compositions narrate — with humor and irony — fragments of contemporary culture.
His work combines pop narration, formal freedom, and chromatic intensity, resulting in pieces that are both visually immediate and deeply anchored in street aesthetics.
