Since 2020, Galerie Outsiders has been proudly representing the work of Onemizer, a major figure of the contemporary urban art scene whose work now extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of graffiti.
Originally from the south of France, his artistic journey was shaped by two powerful visual influences. The first was Africa, where he discovered light, color, and developed an exceptional mastery of watercolor techniques, eventually pushing them toward hyperrealism. The second was Paris, where, as a teenager returning to France, he encountered graffiti culture for the first time — raw, free, and unrestrained — covering walls, subway trains, and abandoned urban spaces. Two seemingly opposite worlds that Onemizer has managed to merge into a unique and instantly recognizable visual language.
His work is built around this constant tension between technical precision and urban spontaneity. Through what he sometimes describes as a “fake graffiti” approach, he creates the illusion of objects, figures, or icons entirely covered in tags, drips, and graffiti lettering, while maintaining an extremely realistic treatment. The result is a singular body of work that blurs the lines between painting, street art, and visual illusion.
Onemizer freely revisits some of the most recognizable symbols of our collective imagination: masterpieces from art history, iconic monuments, and pop culture characters are transformed, distorted, or overwhelmed by layers of urban markings. Beyond their immediate visual impact, his works also question our relationship to imagery, celebrity culture, visual consumption, and the endless circulation of contemporary references.
Today exhibited internationally — from Paris to Dubai, London, Singapore, and Amsterdam — Onemizer has established himself as one of the leading artists of a new generation capable of bridging street culture with contemporary art history. In 2014, he notably participated in the creation of the world’s largest street art fresco, officially recorded in the Guinness World Records.
At Galerie Outsiders, we have followed and supported his evolution for several years with the conviction that his work occupies a unique place within today’s contemporary art landscape: accessible without being decorative, popular without being simplistic, and visually striking without ever losing its technical sophistication.
