ROMAN FERAL
Born in 1990, Roman Feral is a French contemporary artist whose work explores the intersection of luxury, sculpture and the natural world.
His distinctive visual language is particularly recognizable through his use of butterflies, which he combines with iconic objects and symbols from major luxury houses. Trunks, handbags and fashion icons are transformed into sculptural works in which the precious nature of the object contrasts with the lightness and movement of the living world.
Roman Feral also develops an important body of work in bronze, using the material to give these compositions a permanent and distinctly sculptural dimension. Butterflies appear to emerge from and escape the object, creating a striking contrast between the strength of the metal and the sense of movement and fragility that characterizes his work.
Represented and exhibited by galleries in France and internationally, particularly in the United States, Roman Feral has developed an immediately recognizable artistic language at the crossroads of contemporary art, sculpture and luxury culture.
His works are generally produced in highly limited editions, with particular attention given to materials, textures and finishes.
